As a native of Gulfport, MS Robert Waldrop’s experience of the Gulf Coast from the eyes of a child has largely been his inspiration as an artist. From utilizing the beach as his sandbox to the live oaks supporting his tree houses “…It’s hard not to be inspired….”

Robert received his Associates degree in art from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and served as a graphic artist for Lamar Advertising painting billboards. When technology replaced billboard painters with computer printers, Waldrop made a career move as a fireman for the Gulfport Fire Department in 1993. This allowed Robert the opportunity to explore the watercolor medium and make his art a more personal reflection of his love for the Gulf Coast.

Since 1995, Waldrop has been exhibiting along the Gulf Coast and making work of various mediums from paintings on reclaimed wood, metal, carvings, and watercolor.
